Is it Really Over??? Vibe Magazine

Is it me or has there been a whole lot of print media going out of business. The latest publication to make its exit is Vibe Magazine. Then again, maybe not. As long as I can remember Vibe has always held its own. For those that been reading Black Music Magazines from back then, we seen "Right On!" fade away. "Black Beat" became non-existant. "YSB" (Young, Sisters and Brothers) started and ended. Now VIBE....this can't be! It has been said that Quincy Jones wants to buy back Vibe. Now that's some good news! Vibe is our "Black Rolling Stone" :)
“I’m trying to buy my magazine back now,” Jones told EbonyJet.com just moments ago during a telephone call to Jones’ London abode. “They just messed my magazine all up, but I’m gonna get it back. You better believe it, I’m’a take it online because print and all that stuff is over.”
I hear that Quincy....Go get your Mag back...Christina Milian and the Dream can't have the last cover!!

The FADER x REDSTRIPE Presents: "It Was Written"

Last minute events are always the best! :)
Fader magazine sure knows how to party..especially with some good reggae. With the many invites we recieve, we try not to miss a Fader event. Taking place at 38 Howard st. loft, last night was full of networking and dub sessions. DJ Johan hugo on turn tables and Terry Lynn on vocals. They seriously had the party jumping. Free Food, Free RED STRIPE and Flash drives, you couldn't beat that with a bat. I'm just saying...lol
DJ Johan really set it off. People were losing their minds. This Swedish boy knows his reggae. As I walked around, there were so many familiar faces. This was definitely my element. There is so much more I can write about, but sometimes simple is better. Overall...It was ADddiction worthy :)
Shouts out to : Dallas Penn, Lala, Urkel Bot, Theophilus London, Jintrovert, Jason Negron, Yellow rebel, and Kevin Hunt who were all in the building and the beautiful people I met! :)

Message From An ADdict: Power
Yesterday as I set out to make something of my future, I had an ADVENTURE like no other. While at Hunter College I came across a quote that I wanted to share with my fellow ADdicts. If your a GRINDER with a heart of a HUSTLER this message is definitely for you...
"...Powerful people never have to PROVE ANYTHING to ANYONE. And by extension, powerful people never apologize to powerless people for the actions they take in order to remain in power...Powerful people never teach powerless how to take their power away from them."
-John Henrik Clarke
How real is that???...This what I call "Food for thought" ...Get a plate!!

Things come in Three's: Happy Clubbing :)

Question of the day: Where's the camera when you need one???....
So Monday night kicked off a crazy week. Yes, I know its Wednesday and I'm a bit late but better late than never (laughter). Going all around the town was something I didn't plan but it was well worth it. First stop was xclusive night spot "Cain" located on W 27th bet 10th and 11th aves. XXL magazine held a guetlist only party to celebrate Fabolous August cover. With an open bar of Patron and Lemonade everyone was feeling right. Besides hearing the normal club bangers, MJ songs were in full swing. As time went by the man of the hour made his way to his seat along with DJ Clue. Though I wasn't able to chat with Fab, he seems to have a cool personality. To describe him in one word: "Chill" . Soon after taking pics and sipping he made his way out the door and off to "Mr. West" nightclub. I guess "Cain" wasn't nothing to OD over...lol :)
After letting 15mins go by, I made my way to "Black Card Mondays" @ Guesthouse which was next door. Having a great time became my motivation. Though I wanted to stay longer, "Electric Punany" was calling my name. It was very imperative that I went to Sway. It was like a basement party. Dj Melo-X and Will Gates was making it happen. I always seem to forget that I need to wear sneakers and jeans to that event, but what can you do?! Dancing the night away was my productivity! :)

The Man, The Legend, The MUSIC

It was last week Thursday on June 25th, the world had stopped. Eyes glued to Television sets. Ears tuned into radios, while the internet froze. Headlines read "Micheal Jackson dies" or "Micheal Jackson 1958-2009". I'll never forget where was and what I was doing when I recieved the news. On the phone with my bestie, I heard the her television in the background. Then recieved a text and some phone calls. Still in shock about this tragedy, it still seems unreal. Talking about him in a past tense form of speech freaks me out. Though he's no longer here with us physically, he is musically. The legacy of that he has left behind is enough to sustain us to the end of time. He was more than what the media portrayed him to be. He's The Man, The Legend, The MUSIC....The Greatest Music Icon that ever lived!!..Rest In Peace MJ!
Be sure to check out the Time Magazine commemorative edition. Its well written. The best I seen yet! :)
